Breastfeeding groups are provided in each locality and are facilitated by the public health teams. When visiting a breastfeeding group in Lanarkshire women can expect:

• A friendly, relaxed, informal and safe environment in a place where pregnant women and new mothers can meet and support each other.
• To share experiences with each other with a view to promoting and supporting breastfeeding. To be involved in decisions taken about the group.
• To have access to professional advice around breastfeeding from appropriately trained staff.
• To be supported in choices they make to sustain breastfeeding.
